Tool kits can be broadly categorized into the following types based on different classification dimensions:

By Specific Purpose:

Common categories include medical tool kits, instrument kits, car tool kits, toiletries kits, cosmetic kits, training tool kits, electrician tool kits, auto repair tool kits, and household tool kits, each specifically designed to store corresponding tools for its intended purpose.

Car tool kits can be further divided into three categories: repair kits (including jacks, warning triangles, etc.), document kits (for storing vehicle manuals and maintenance books), and storage kits (for storing floor mats, ashtrays, etc.).

Electrician tool kits are specifically designed for storing personal tools used in electrical work. There are also sub-styles such as rotating quick-release waist packs suitable for carpenters and electricians.

American tactical kits are emergency rescue tool sets, special tool kits integrating various manual breaching tools, used for initial rescue operations.

Classification by Material and Form:

Toolboxes are categorized into plastic toolboxes, sheet metal toolboxes, aluminum alloy toolboxes, canvas tool bags, Oxford cloth tool bags, etc., each with different characteristics:

Plastic toolboxes: Lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and relatively light in weight;
Sheet metal toolboxes: Sturdy and durable, mostly made of galvanized phosphated steel;
Aluminum alloy toolboxes: Robust but relatively expensive;
Oxford cloth tool bags: Wear-resistant, scratch-resistant, lightweight, and flexible; some are waterproof, suitable for workshops and outdoor work environments.
